Blades : Damascus (pattern
welded steel)
Guards and pommel : Pattern welded
Grips : Stag horn/ Stag horn
w. leather cord wrap
Dating : 9th/10th century
style
We have used pattern
welded blade construction of straight lines (lower Sax) and straight
line with fish bone pattern (upper Sax). These blades are slightly etched and
inlayed with silver wire Runic inscription RICC (Richard Kazda
signature). Both knives have
pattern welded "guard" and the upper knife has leather cord partly
wrapped grip without "pommel". These Saxes were made by
master smith Richard Kazda of the ArmArt company. The whole sword-making
process was based on the original procedures, involving only manual
work. Basic historical materials and procedures were used in the
process. |
