This sword is based on the Oakeshott Type XVIII.4 on page 175 of Records of the Medieval Sword. However, what's unique to this sword is the Type V Fishtail pommel, III style. The crossguard is a Type II style, modified to curve downwards to achieve a remarkable aesthetic balance. We think you'll agree. The pommel's unique fluting flows into the grip, which is covered by a single piece of dark red leather. The tang is hammered into the pommel and becomes part of it.

Much attention-to-detail is given to the shaping of the pommel and crossguard. You'll notice many subtle qualities that emphasize the stateliness of this sword.

The blade sports a flattened diamond geometry with no fuller.

This sword is based on Type XVIII of Oakeshott's Typology of historical European swords. The blade is diamond section, with an down-turned iron guard. The wood is fashioned of beech wood, wrapped in leather (you may specify brown or black), and an iron wheel pommel.

Blade of diamond section, bent iron guard, beech wood grip wrapped in dark brown leather, wheel iron pommel. This is an excellent knightly cut-and-thrust sword for those needing an effective historical weapon for either collecting and/or practicing martial arts - but without the associated price of a completely handcrafted piece (even though that's exactly how we at ArmArt make them!)

Similar to our Model S4B the guard and pommel provide many personalization possibilities for those seeking an additional investment path. Click HERE for the ArmArt Personalization Guide for engravings. If you don't find something you like, feel free to submit scanned images.
